Job Summary:

Direct global import/export operations. Assure compliance with laws and regulations promulgated by U.S.CBP, the BIS, the Bureau of the Census, the DDTC, FDA and OGA, both US and foreign.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Determine global import/export operations of products, services and information to customers world-wide and their customers shipping internationally. Direct observance of company’s trade compliance program and accountability for compliance with laws and regulations promulgated by U.S.CBP, the BIS, the Bureau of the Census, the DDTC, FDA and OGA, both US and foreign.

• Guide and counsel all departments’ trade compliance managers globally, including resolving any trade compliance questions.

• Implement, constantly develop, and standardize global trade processes, policies, procedures, and guidebooks dealing with adherence with import and export compliance laws and regulations.

• Work with trade compliance managers to implement and periodically review import and export policies, processes, and procedures at the departmental level, and put into action improvements as needed.

• Create, keep up, and put into practice consciousness training schedules and materials for corporate personnel and trade compliance managers.

• Recognize staffing needs for the efficient running of the Global Trade operation. Hire, train and develop Global Trade department.

• Manage and oversee all licensing while identifying risks linked to import and export operations. Inform General Counsel and other corporate management of findings as needed.

• Observe and predict current and future global trade compliance chances and needs the company. Compel cost containment and cost savings.

• Implement consistent SOPs for customs brokers and freight forwarders. Manage customs broker and freight forwarder compliance with corporate policies, processes, and procedures and perform assessments.

• Maintain, design, select and successful implement applicable import/export systems including ERP systems and WMS.

• Control all Powers of Attorney issued to customs brokers and freight forwarders as well as all departments and business units globally.

Skills/Qualifications:

• 10-15 years of experience in management of a Trade Compliance (import/export) department of a key global manufacturer of scientific and technical products

• Global experience to include Europe and Asia as well as other regions.

• Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with the U.S. CPB regulations, EAR, ITAR, and Foreign Assets Control Regulations.

• BA/BS Degree required; post grad or JD degree preferred

• Licensed U.S. Customs Broker preferred

• Strong knowledge of SAP and the use of other technologies (ERP, WMS) in dealing with compliance and global trade.

• Extensive travel required initially.
